Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium was introduced in 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for Free School Meals (FSM) at any point in the last six years. The Government believes that the Pupil Premium is the best way to address the underlying inequalities between children eligible for FSM and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

At Ernest Bevin Academy the Pupil Premium is used in many ways including:

  • to support literacy
  • to pay for one to one tuition for targeted pupils
  • to subsidise the funding of additional teachers & Learning Support Assistants working with Foundation groups
  • to help fund resources & trips for Pupil Premium children so that they can participate fully in all school activities
  • to fund music lessons
  • to fund extra curricular activities, clubs and some residential trips
