Welcome to the Ernest Bevin Academy website. I hope you find it useful and informative, and that it gives you some sense of the school’s vitality, values and of the many achievements of our students.
Ernest Bevin Academy is an all-boys school with a mixed sixth form where we provide an exceptional level of pastoral care, academic education and enrichment for every student. We are committed to providing excellence in education and opportunities for all.
In June 2022, Ofsted recognised that “Pupils value the support they receive in lessons, and they benefit from leaders’ and teachers’ high expectations.”
We offer a rich, varied and stimulating curriculum, delivering a full range of subjects and quality coaching in many sports. Students and staff benefit from our excellent sporting facilities consisting of: a 25m swimming pool; a dojo for martial arts and a fitness suite. Our students have a track record of sporting success at local, regional and national level, with particular strengths in table tennis and cricket.
We are extremely proud of the academic achievements of our students and our results were very pleasing once again in 2024. 80% of students achieved a grade four or above in both GCSE English and maths, which represents an eight percentage point increase on last year’s figure. In addition, well over half of the year group (57%) achieved a grade 5 or above in the two subjects. In our Sixth Form, we saw, once again, particularly strong performances in our flagship subjects of maths, the sciences and computer science, and the vast majority of our students achieved the grades they needed to secure their first choice of destination, which included medicine at Queen Mary's University of London and pharmacy at King's College London.
We deliver an ambitious and creative curriculum designed to develop a love of learning and an intellectual curiosity amongst our students. In addition to the formal curriculum, we offer a wealth of enrichment opportunities designed to enhance our students’ educational experience and develop their cultural awareness and appreciation. We aim to ensure that our students graduate from Ernest Bevin Academy with excellent qualifications, life skills and wealth of experience to ensure their success in further education, training or a career path of their choosing.
We are committed to securing the very best for all our students and in doing so, teaching them the values that lie at the heart of everything we do.
From 1st March 2023 we officially became an academy with United Learning. We look forward to forging a strong partnership with the group and know their aims resonate with our own; a high expectation of the quality of education and pastoral care; preparing students for life and the quality of the environment and relationships.
As Principal of Ernest Bevin Academy, I very much hope you take the opportunity to visit us and I look forward to welcoming you to the school.
